FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • Does PPS recycle cartridges that are not able to be remanufactured?
Absolutely, and PPS encourages all of its customers to recycle too. As empty cartridges are processed through our manufacturing facility, all of the plastic components, that meet our manufacturing standards, are re-purposed. All other components in the cartridge are replaced with new parts. The pieces removed (drums, metal and plastic components) are carefully sorted and disposed at local recycling centers.
  • Does PPS use new smartchips on all remanufactured cartridges?
Yes. New smartchips are installed on every remanufactured cartridge that requires a smartchip.
  • What is the Fail Rate of PPS Cartridges?
Over 25 years of manufacturing, and with rigorous testing of returned cartridges, it has been determined that the fail rate is only 2%. Some factors that account for defective cartridges include new component failure and new smartchip malfunction.
  • What happens if a cartridge is defective?
Contact PPS at 800/598-0346 to go over the nature of the problem. To see if the issue can be isolated to the cartridge, it is recommended that the seemingly faulty cartridge be replaced with another cartridge. If the problem persists, it is likely not an issue with the cartridge, but with the printer. If the cartridge is defective, PPS will replace it or refund the purchase price.
  • How many different brands of cartridges does PPS remanufacture?
Currently, compatible cartridges are available for the following brands of laser printers and fax machines.

    • Hewlett Packard
    • Brother
    • Dell
    • Lexmark
    • Canon
    • Sharp

PPS continuously researches and remanufactures compatibles for these brands as new products are released.
  • I tried compatibles before and wasn’t happy. Why should I try again?
In the early years of producing compatible cartridges, some companies found there was a lack of knowledge, and lack of quality of supplies and replacement parts available, to build quality remanufactured cartridges.
At PPS, significant research and development has been utilized to produce a remanufactured cartridge that meets or exceeds OEM standards. Each cartridge has been completely stripped down to its core and rebuilt using only new components. All cartridges then go through a thorough testing process before being boxed for sale. Precision Printer Services guarantees each premium remanufactured laser cartridge will rival its name-brand equivalents in quality, performance, and longevity.
  • Does using a compatible cartridge void my warranty?
No. The FTC ruled under the Clayton Anti-Trust Act that using a non-OEM product in a printer does NOT void the warranty. If there is a problem with the printer, related to a PPS cartridge, PPS would warrant the problem by fixing the issue or paying for the repair bill. In PPS’s 25 year history, there has never been a cartridge that has caused any significant damage to a printer.
